The famous Dee Dee McCall of "Hunter", on channel TF1, married businessman Mark Richards before God on Sunday May 24. She was radiant in her white gown of romantic satin which was adorned with lace and pearls, and with a veil in her black hair. Her mother, her brother and all of her family, but also Isabelle Caron and "Tele 7 Jours" (magazine) shared in her great happiness in Aspen, in the heart of Colorado. In the arms of Mark Richards, Stepfanie walks toward the altar in the Aspen church. Suddenly, it is difficult to recognize the famous Dee Dee McCall, the policewoman of "Hunter", Sundays on TF1. Radiant in her white satin gown adorned with lace and pearls, with a veil in her black hair held back by a garland of flowers, she is going before God to become the wife of this 35 year old businessman. She, also 35 years old, has chosen this well-known Colorado resort where Melanie Griffith (and Don Johnson), Jill St. Johnson (and Robert Wagner), Michael Douglas, Jack Nicholson have homes, for her marriage on Sunday May 24, 1992. Close by are her family, her friends, and "Tele 7 Jours" whom she has chosen to invite. T7J - I believe that you still have one great regret today. SK - Everyone who knows me knows that. My father passed away before I was 12 years old. I would have certainly liked to have him here. I had another father - that's what I used to call him - my mother's second husband. He raised me, supported me when I wanted to become an actress, then he passed away also, about ten years ago. I think of him a lot in church. I would have liked so much for him to be next to me today. I would have liked to tell him that I have never forgotten him, especially not at this moment. T7J- You have waited a long time to get married. In Hollywood, they would call you a bachelor(ette). SK - This hasn't been such a long time. I very strongly believe in destiny. I knew that one day I would meet the man with whom I would wish to spend the rest of my life. T7J- How did you meet Mark Richards? SK- My uncle organizes meetings of businessmen and political figures, the kind of conferences that benefit the 4H Club ( a charity which works for kids), that meets each year at the agricultural fair in Aspen. One day, he asked me to join them. Laughingly, I said: "I don't know how to milk a cow." I did come though, and Mark was there, too. All of a sudden I understood. In France, they call that "love at first sight'. I know this expression. It's true. Suddenly, at the same moment, we both had a strange feeling. This feeling of having known each other for a really long time even through we'd never met. It was love. Immediate love. T7J- You seem surprised. SK- At that point, I didn't believe. When people spoke to me of our "love at first sight", I told myself that it wasn't possible. But I kept the door to my heart open for such a situation. Mark crossed that doorway. T7J- Describe him to us. SK- He is light-hearted, generous, gentle, very warm, and he has a great sense of humor. I've found the "ideal man"! T7J- You already lived together before you got married. SK- Only for a few months. I believe strongly in marriage, even if it seems out-dated, Mark too. We would like to be joined before God. We would like children who have real parents. T7J- Many Children? SK- Not only one, in any case. A half-hour after our first meeting at the agricultural fair, Mark asked me if I wanted children. It's true! I'm certain he will be a great dad. T7J- How did Mark talk to you about marriage? SK- He asked me to marry him in a very romantic fashion. It was Christmas Eve, at midnight. We were alone at his house. He took a beautiful package out of his pocket. He gave it to me and when I opened it, I found my ring. He told me how much he would like for me to become Mrs. Richards. My flustered expression was my only response. T7J- This was your engagement ring. SK- A black pearl with diamonds inlaid around it. I rarely wear it. It is as beautiful as it is fragile. I took it off today to wear the wedding ring, the symbol of love and fidelity. The whole time when the priest was marrying us, I kept saying to myself: " At age 35, I'm going to live the most beautiful day of my life." T7J- The priest told me that he has never heard anyone take their marriage vows with as much faith/sincerity as you. SK- I had the impression of becoming as much as a believer as Mark. He is very catholic. It's a quality that I also appreciate. He believes. Just as he believes in that which he does and in us. He respected tradition all the way, he did not want to see my dress until today. T7J- Where did you find it (wedding gown)? SK- I searched in L.A. for a long time, before finding it in Aspen, here, in the window of a great designer. It was the 35th that I'd tried on. It is elegant and traditional. I cried - real tears - when I tried it on the first time. T7J- The music at the church was well chosen. SK- It's "our" song. It's from the album "Walking in Memphis" by Marc Cohn, well known in the U.S. It's called "True Companion", like we hope to be for one another. Marc Cohn says "Even after all these years, we walk side by side because I will always love you. And when it becomes necessary to leave this earth, I will be waiting for you with the angels." T7J- Your home for the moment is Aspen. SK- It is a little town in the heart of Colorado, more peaceful than you'd believe, and it makes me so happy. I don't regret leaving L.A. where I sold my two houses. This will be the ideal setting for my children. In any case, I would have followed Mark to any corner of the earth. He also sold the house we were living in. We purchased a great piece of land on the mountain and we are building the house of our dreams, an huge ranch. Our children will love it. T7J- And your career as an actress? SK- I haven't abandoned it. Mark is the first to encourage me to continue with it. I shot my last film "Twin Sisters' before my uncle invited me to Aspen! I'm also in preparation for an album which I will start recording again in L.A. in August, with new producers. It should be out this year. I dedicated it to Mark of course. It is a record of love. T7J- You don't miss your time as the policewoman on "Hunter"? SK- I keep wonderful memories because the scripts and the filming were exciting and it allowed me to be known in a many countries, one of which is France. However, I could not begin shooting 14 or 16 hours a day again, even for great pay. And besides, I don't see how a married couple could endure that. When Fred Dryer and I were making the show, we were single. T7J- The wind and the rain has christened your wedding! SK- Here, they say that a wedding in the rain brings happiness, without a doubt because it cleanses us of everything. I really believe in these signs, in these beliefs. This allows me to have a great inner peace. Mark and I believe strongly in meditation, to look within ourselves, even when we're together. We can spend long quiet hours, while holding hands. This common love for inactivity - even though he is and I am, I believe, a woman of action - has brought us closer together. T7J- You have plans for a honeymoon? SK- Of course, in one of my favorite cities in the world: Paris. For Mark, it will be his first time. He only knows that it is the city of love, and therefore for us. Only, we won't be leaving before the end of the year. Mark has a lot of business that will keep him in the U.S. for now. T7J- The ultimate question is one which can settle all of the Hunter fans: Why isn't Fred Dryer here? SK- Oh, we aren't angry with each other. We speak on the phone often. He wasn't able to make himself free. His business affairs, his productions above all, take up a lot of his time. He sent me a huge bouquet of flowers with the message: "To my best partner. I am happy that you have found happiness." And Stepfanie is that (happy). Following her heart all the way.
