Quote: 'Vital Statistics — Fred Dryer
Birthday: July 6, 1946.
Birthplace: Hawthorne, Calif.
Current home: Brentwood, Calif.
Occupation: Actor.
Marital status: Divorced.
Child: Caitlin, 4.
Car: A 1985 white Dodge sedan.
Working on: Starring in "Hunter" on NBC-TV. We're celebrating the 100th episode.
I stay home to watch: I don't watch TV for fun but to see what the
other networks are putting opposite us and which shows are being heavily promoted. I do it to find out how the networks think. I'm getting
into producing, so when people stop watching "Hunter" - every show has a life span - I'll be ready. I don't want to sit around the phone waiting to
be hired. I want to be in charge.
Favorite pigout food: I like to make tacos. Chicken, lettuce, tomato, salsa and sour cream in a hot corn tortilla. Then I eat as much as I can.
Favorite performer: Frank Sinatra. I think he's the entertainer of the century. He has such style. When I played football for 13 years, I was aware that anybody could do my job. But I always felt special to myself because I did it with my own personal style.
I'm better than anyone else when it comes to: Solving my own problems.
I'd give anything to meet: Salvador Dali. Hugh Hefner has one of his pictures
hanging in the hall of his mansion, and every time I see it, I'm mesmerized.
I want to teach my child: My daughter teaches me. Children do the purest,
most honest, direct, economical things.
The best time of my life: Now. I'm 42.1 have control over my life. I dropped out
of San Diego State 13 units shy of a degree. But I knew it didn't matter because I knew I'd never use the degree. I see the world as a great opportunity t
succeed in a lot of areas. I look back at my life with a great feeling of
accomplishment. I maximized my limited talents as an athlete. I studied hard t
be an actor; I sat in the front row of my acting class for five years and did
the most difficult thing - stripped myself of my defense mechanisms, allowed
myself to be criticized, opened myself up."
